Dell Curry, father of Stephen Curry, has good news for Warriors fans — his son is not even considering retirement.
“He still loves the game,” Dell Curry told DJ Siddiqi of RG.org. “He’s a competitive guy. He wants to win another title, so we’re not even close to that window yet. But when the time comes, I think he’ll make the right decision.”
Stephen Curry is signed through the 2026/27 season, when he’ll be 39. His father believes he can go even longer than that.
“Absolutely, just because he can shoot the basketball, and he’s going to require attention,” Dell Curry said. “Even if you put him in the corner at 40, 41 years old, you have to guard him. That means that he’s creating space for other guys around him. If you can shoot the basketball, there’s a team that can use you in today’s NBA. But if you’re Steph Curry, I think you’re going to be able to play until you say, ‘I’m done.’”
We have more on the Warriors:
- They are promoting head video coordinator, Lainn Wilson, as the new head coach of their NBA G League affiliate in Santa Cruz, Marc Stein tweets. Nick Kerr, son of head coach Steve Kerr, has coached Santa Cruz the last two seasons. He’ll be returning to the Warriors’ NBA coaching staff, according to Stein.
- In his preview of the Warriors’ offseason, Spotrac contributor Keith Smith says they’ve already made their big splash by acquiring Jimmy Butler during the season and signing him to an extension. The front office’s focus should be to find enough depth to complement the veteran-led group, according to Smith, who adds that the team could use an established backup ball-handler and more frontcourt depth, particularly if Jonathan Kuminga isn’t retained.
- Regarding that latter point, the Bulls and Heat have been linked to Kuminga as potential sign-and-trade partners. Get the details here.
No KD to the warriors in a 1 for 1 jimmy butler trade info? SHOCKING
Suns want Curry straight up……… lol
So Davey J can stop calling Suns about Jimmy.
Nothing says Curry will keep playing pass 40. He has kids that he will want to be around more. Best bet is he retires once his contract is over.
I’m willing to bet he’ll shoot (no pun intended) for 30,000 points before thinking of hanging it up.
Curry could easily play til 50 if he curbed his MPG down to 15-20 starting now. But if he keeps playing big starter minutes, his body will likely break down around 44-46.
Curry MUST get more rings than Bron. It’s important for the league for Curry to own Bron by as many historic metrics as possible. Bron was a fraud, Curry was the legitimate GOAT.
“Bron was a fraud, Curry was the legitimate GOAT.” crack cocaine
how the hell could u possibly know that? arc.
When he was asked about an extension he said we will see how I feel. he has a bunch of kids now and has so much outside of the NBA stuff going on. After you turn 40 it gets much harder having the energy to do things.
Lebron has 3 kids and 2 of them are grown. 20 17 and 10.
He has talked about emulating Brady and playing into his mid 40s before, and I think he has basically said that he will keep playing while he is still this good. I worry more about injury buildup just potentially ending things sooner. It really nobody besides Bron that have really been this healthy late in their career with a full workload, and he is built like a human tank.
Reality is the key – sign and trade or pure trade
Warriors should target Bucks. Those Bucks have very little value but have more value than Bulls and Heat
Somebody can tell him to stop chewing those mouthpieces.Otherwise he is a good 3 point shooter. No more
Funny he is still the best 3 point shooter in the NBA.
Steph Curry is the best player in the NBA = fact.
Curry has earned his contract but the CBO is such that because of it they won’t be able to get enough talent to win again, sorry Steph. Plus no contract friendly players that help them win.
A win over the inexperienced Rockets was an anomaly.
Warriors beat the Rockets and it wasn’t just inexperience. Rockets lack a scorer and warriors played better defense.
Donkey should’ve been suspended after game 1. All the stuff he got away with turned the series. He shouldn’t even be in the nba at this point dirtiest player who’s ever played the game
Thompson should have been suspended on the dirty huit on Butler. All the stuff the rockets were doing to injure players.
How about when Donkey hit Jalen Green in the face ? How bout when he stomped Sabonis and tried to kill him? Dirtiest player in the nba by far
How about when Brooks broke Payton’s arm on purpose? How about in the playoffs when Thompson was hit a few years ago. Your crying is just that iof you want to go on and on.
Thanks for proving all warriors fans act like Davey J. Who was crying? Just pointing out he’s the dirtiest player in the nba. Is it a warriors thing to talk trash behind a screen? What I would give to run into you cowards in person
now that is funny with Stewart and Brooks in teh NBA. How am i talking trash wehn you were the one bringing up Green? Sounds liek you are teh one hiding behind the computer and then playing the victim card if somebody calls you out for it.
Feels like Brook Lopez back to the Bay seems like the smart move on everybody’s part. He fits what they need on both sides of the court & with his temperament as well. I’d say a $20-25M/2yr deal seems about right… link to m.youtube.com
GSW would have to let JK walk for nothing to use more than a 5.7 mill exception this summer
Oof I guess they gotta hope they can talk him into that. Either way this team prob not winning anything next yr. If Ws can get Herb Jones in return for Kuminga that would be interesting & could make them contenders but Vooch ain’t gonna do it. As hard as it is to move on they should have traded Steph last summer.
Brooks made over 220 M in his career
I could easily see him taking a small haircut to get to his ideal location
Getting to that 5.7 gives him multiple locations for a solid ring chase
Small haircut? I prefer the mini fro over the buzz cut though.
Crunch-
I predict Brook to Lakers.
Lopez twins may have gone to Stanford, but they have a much stronger affinity for LA. They’ve lived there at times in their lives. They are big into film production. Robin turned down Warriors overtures 2x in the last few years.
Im starting to lean Kormet over Brook or Capella if all 3 being equal price
Adam’s getting the 3/40 is going to have these agents hoping for more than the 5.7 tho
Should be interesting
You could also just send Moody into a rebuilding teams MLE to cut some salary and get like a protected first back. I think he has shown enough to be interesting to teams on a relatively friendly cost controlled deal.
The Warriors want a stretch C, and Lopez is the best free-agent fit, $10-$12M/yr sounds right.
But, if you know Steve Kerr, you know the Warriors won’t use that money on the C position because at, the end of the game, Kerr will play Draymond at C.
I’ve been saying that for months. He still lives in Fresno. To go from a Wisconsin Winter to Caliente Fresno takes some cajones. He’d be great working with Post. Have Butler working with JK. They should also bring back Melton. The offense was clicking with him. Great defense also.
Giants74,
Predictions:
1) Because Warriors won’t spend on a C, they’re committing to Quentin Post as the starter. He’s $10M cheaper than Brook.
2) Any free agent signings will be young and healthy. Warriors are oldest team in the league. Melton is a nice fit but chronically injured. Warriors rolled the dice on him last year and lost.
Replace FA Looney with FA Brook Lopez
Replace FA GP2 with FA DeAnthony Melton
Sign and trade Kuminga for Bam
Chip
Heat is not trading Bam. They are trading to build a playoff team so they will keep bam.
Wrong, no one builds around 28 year olds, Bam is too old and doesn’t fit the timeline. Your analysis lacks nuance and facts.
MJ was 28 when he won his first ring. Bulls built around him and that worked out pretty well. In fact most guys aren’t winning rings until their mid to late 20s. Your comment is ridiculous Davey and factually incorrect.
No one builds around 28 year olds. Period.
> No one builds around 28 year olds. Period.
I know a team that is building around a 38 yr old and 2 26 year olds.
Miami is not shopping Bam. they are actually going after allstars like KD to bring to Miami. They can easily out offer for KD then what the warriors could offer. You have a problem of thinking teams will just trade their best player to warriors for nothing. To help you out in further comments not to look like a fool Kuminga’s trade amount back to warriors is just $12 million. They have no money else to offer for a player.
“You have a problem of thinking teams will just trade their best player to warriors for nothing.”
Jimmy Butler is “nothing”? Shut up. You dont know ball. Stay wrong.
Joining the dark side, huh? Im sure you will be quoting me on the first post in no time!!! Backstabber much?
Tell him Jimmy Butler is non trade eligible and end Davey J’s final gasp at warrior glory.
